Making Black History Moments (MBHM) – On September 24, 2016, the Smithsonian welcomed into its family the National Museum of African American History and Culture. To date, the Museum has collected more than 36,000 artifacts and nearly 100,000 individuals have become members.

Our nation took a large step onto the path of healing when the doors of this museum opened in 2016. It is important that we Americans face all that we are if we are to move forward together. While I have yet to make my first visit, I have had the honor of visiting a number of African American heritage sites across the nation. There are far more than I bet many would imagine and chances are there is one near you.

I’ll get you a head start by sharing a list I compiled a few years ago of nearly 200 sites. Take it, use it, learn the full history of our nation because we are all made from it whether we like it all or not.
